Amber was delighted to arrange several interactive music workshops during the summer school at Linden Lodge School in London. More than 40 blind and partially sighted children from throughout London took part in the holiday scheme and on 10th August were able to enjoy a morning making music with Westcombe Brass a lively and incredibly versatile brass quintet working with Live Music Now.
The children loved hearing the sound of each of the brass instruments, learning how they made their music, and how the sounds can change when played in different ways. They had enormous fun feeling the vibrations from blowing wind through hosepipes onto their skin. Everyone had a chance to take part and enjoyed the morning in different ways. The music played ranged from lyrical classical pieces to brass band music, jazz and film music such as the theme from Star Wars. Hearing the trombone playing faster and faster and louder and louder was a particular hit.
