15 year-old* Yazzy is an Amber Music Award recipient, receiving singing lessons with her music teacher, Philip.
Yazzy speaks very highly of Philip: ‘I am very grateful to know that someone realises that music is so important to me, and have had access to a superb singing teacher who has helped me along the way, by personalising lessons to make them so accessible.’
Yazzy’s mum, Sarah, says ‘We can’t say thank you enough for the opportunity to be a member of Amber’s Youth Board. She has realised she isn’t alone and that her voice is very important.
“Joining Amber’s Youth Board has been a great way to meet other award recipients, and to be able to discuss ways that we benefit from the support” Yazzy
Sarah adds ‘she is keen to do Grade 8 Singing – and we are sure she will achieve this. But it isn’t about the grades; wherever her life leads her, she will be able to join a choir as an equal and therefore get out and meet strangers which is so hard with a visual impairment. Finding opportunities where Visually Impaired children can be equal to their sighter peers is so important for their emotional welfare. Amber Trust does that endlessly. Yazzy is so pleased with her achievements. She had only dreamt of being given these opportunities and to get them so young, will really hold her in good stead in the years to come.’
We’re looking forward to working closely with Yazzy as part of our Youth Board, as well as hearing about her continued singing successes!
Yazzy’s Award is supported by The Rockspring Charitable Trust.
