14 year-old* George has been an Amber recipient for 3 years. He has achieved grade 5 singing and grade 6 guitar. George performs at open mics locally and performs gigs in local pubs, as well recently playing at Upton blues festival.
George is an Amber Music Award recipient. As well as guitar lessons, Amber recently funded a steel string guitar for George, and his mum, Julie told us that it has transformed his playing. The guitar enabled George to play at the Upton Blues Festival in 2025, where he fit right in with his new-found blues sound!
After the festival, Julie said ‘George had the absolute time of his life, he had two gigs booked and ended up playing two more, as well as an open mic on the campsite stage. The sound is so different to his electric guitar and has enabled him to do a lot more of the blues songs that he love – I understand now why he wanted it so badly!
Julie said ‘Amber’s support has transformed Georges life. I could not have afforded to pay for both his singing and his guitar lessons. He had never even picked up a guitar before Amber got involved’.
George performed at Amber’s 30th Anniversary concert in May 2025, and also featured on Amber’s 2025 Digital Christmas Card, performing a fabulous rendition of ‘Run Rudolph Run’ to help wish supporters a ‘rocking’ Christmas!
George hopes to go on to to perform and produce music. After secondary school, he is hoping to go and do a music course at a local college. We look forward to following his progress!
