We are delighted to introduce you to some of the performers taking part in this year’s Annual Concert!
The Amber Trust’s Annual Concert takes place at The Wathen Hall, Barnes on Sunday 17 May. This afternoon of music will feature the talented musicians supported by Amber, and acclaimed pianist Derek Paravicini.
All proceeds from the concert will go to The Amber Trust, supporting blind and partially sighted children in the UK, including those with additional disabilities, to meet their musical aspirations and fulfil their potential.
Performers Include:
Derek Paravicini
Derek is one of the most extraordinary pianists and musicians of his generation, yet he is blind and has severe learning difficulties and is on the autism spectrum.
Based in London, Derek performs regularly across the UK, and is also making a name for himself internationally having performed in venues across Europe and the United States.
Derek is the inspiration behind The Amber Trust and is a regular – and much enjoyed – performer at Amber events!
Chapman
“I’m Chapman, a student at the Trinity Laban Junior Conservatoire. I love all different kinds of genres, but I mostly enjoy creating my own music. I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends at Amber’s Annual Concert. This year, I’ll be performing Holberg Suite for Piano, Op. 40: No. 1, Prelude by Edvard Grieg, along with one of my own compositions.”
Sofia
“My name is Sofia and I am 18 years old. I am a singer song-writer and thanks to the Amber Trust, I have been learning braille music to support my music studies. I sing and often accompany myself with either the piano or the guitar. I also love acting and dancing and I am currently studying Musical Theatre at the Brit School. This year Eleanor Stollery and myself will be performing a duet of For Good from Wicked The Musical.”
Benjamin
“Hi, I’m Benjamin and I’m 13. Piano has always been a big part of my life and helps me express my creativity and ideas. I’ve applied to study Music GCSE next year and I’m excited to keep developing.
I really enjoy Amber Trust concerts and listening to other performers. This year I will be playing Dr Gradus ad Parnassum by Debussy and Gershwin’s I’ve Got Rhythm.”
Nikhil
“I am Nikhil, 16 years old and I have been playing piano for the last 11 years. I enjoy play various genres like pop, classical and jazz. Classical is my favourite. I am looking forward to meet my friends and playing at the Amber Trust concert this year. I will be playing Beethoven Moonlight Sonata 1st movement in C sharp minor.”
Lily M
“Hi there – my name is Lily and I’ve been singing for 7 years and playing the harp for 4 years. I love many genres of music – blues, jazz, country, gospel and opera. I love going to see musicals too!
I can’t wait to see everyone at the Amber Trust Concert and hear them perform. This year I will be singing When I Grow Up from Matilda musical.”
