A Celebration of Youth Music

Saturday 30 March 2019 at 7:30 pm

St Michael and All Angels Church, Bath Road, W4 1TT

Come and join us for an exciting evening of music at a joint concert hosted by The Amber Trust and Keys of Change. The first half will include Amber Trust musicians playing chamber music by Rachmaninov, Mozart, Debussy, Elgar and Saint-Saens and, after the interval, the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta will perform orchestral works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Mackenzie.

The Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta is one of the most positive things to emerge from the devastation of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan. Set up by Keys of Change in partnership with schools in Fukushima, initially to bring hope to the young people in the area, the orchestra has made rapid musical strides. This is the latest stage in their extraordinary journey to becoming an acclaimed youth orchestra, increasingly known not only for the standard of their performances but also for their innovative approach to working with other groups of young people who are living in difficult circumstances. On Monday 1st April 2019 at 7.30pm the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta, 50 young musicians who survived the earthquake and tsunami in 2011, will also be performing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London.
