To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we set a goal to see 30 fundraising concerts in aid of The Amber Trust in 2025/6. We are delighted to have reached this goal, with 30 events running between and March 2025 and June 2026!
A huge thanks to everyone who has organised events, which have ranged from large-scale productions, to small concerts, to garden parties.

A Soaring Evening of Music

Inspired by the theme of ‘flight’ the programme features Colliers Wood Community Orchestra and Colliers Wood Chorus. We’re also very pleased to welcome our special guests from The Amber Trust, Paul Cavaciuti, Poppy McGhee, Chapman Shum and Derek Paravicini. Derek was the recent winner of the 2025 Pianote Awards for Pianist of the Year and Most Inspirational Pianist.

AMM House Music-a-Thon
Sunday 15 March – £1825 raised
The boys of AMM presented their annual Music-a-Thon, where boys from the house performed three hours of continuous live music with no breaks, featuring both solo and group pieces, all organised and run entirely by themselves. As a very musical house with many boys who excel in music, they chose to support The Amber Trust, in this event continuing their house tradition of the yearly Music-a-Thon.
St Peter’s College Music Society Charity Lunchtime Recital: Grade One-a-Thon
1.15pm, Thursday 12 March
In this special Lunchtime Recital, members of the St Peter’s College Music Society will be performing on unfamiliar instruments at approximately Grade 1 standard, in a light-hearted celebration of beginner music-making.
The event brings together music students from across the College, many of whom are deliberately stepping outside their usual instrumental comfort zones. The result promises enthusiasm, bravery, and entertainment – with the emphasis firmly on participation rather than polish.
Free and open to the public – details of how to donate to The Amber Trust will be shared at the concert.

Stepping Up – Evening Concert

Andy Mais is Stepping Up and inviting some musical friends to entertain you with their love of music for another evening of classical and contemporary piano playing and songs.

Wimbledon Choral – Christmas Concert, 6pm Saturday 13th December – £1,464 raised
Wimbledon Choral are kindly supporting Amber by having bucket collections at their Christmas Concert.

Wimbledon Community Chorus 4th and 11th Dec 2025: Carols at The Dog and Fox – £500 raised
Wimbledon Community Chorus are kindly supporting Amber by having a collection at their two carol singing events. They have also chosen Amber as their charity of the year 2025-26.

Winter Warmer – 7th December – £379 raised
Amber’s CEO, Sophie Amstell, held a Winter Warmer at her home in Wiltshire to raise funds in aid of Amber.
Guests enjoyed the recording of Amber’s 2025 Annual Concert whilst enjoying mulled wine and mince pies.
James Lisney (piano) – Petits Concerts XXI – a musical offering in support of The Amber Trust – Friday 21st November – £331.50 raised
James Lisney’s musical offerings centred upon Beethoven’s three final sonatas, one of music’s great spiritual journeys, written when the composer was turning fifty years old and occupied with the Missa Solemnis. This transcendent, dramatic, lyrical, and ultimately communicative music is prefaced by complementary preludes by Bach, Chopin and Shostakovich.

Derek Paravicini performed a concert in aid of The Amber Trust at Upton Grey Village Hall.
Derek Paravicini & Friends – 12th October 2025 – £383.92 raised
Taking place at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre this October will be another special evening celebrating the incredible talents of blind and vision impaired musicians. Expect moving performances, uplifting stories, and plenty of moments that will stay with you long after the final note.

Age No Concern at Ilkley Bandstand – 6th September – £129.50 raised
Regular Amber fundraisers, Age No Concern, once again returned to perform at Ilkley Bandstand on the 6th September.

Garden party in aid of Amber – July – £1,037 raised
Jane invited 30 friends to her beautiful garden for a champagne tea party, while she and a friend both played the piano as background music for most of the afternoon.
Jane told us: ‘I haven’t done any fundraising for a few years but as a pianist myself, and after seeing Lucy on The Piano I wanted to do something to give these children more lessons.’
Jane and friends raised £1,037 in aid of Amber, which is the equivalent of just over 41 music lessons!
DFest – July – £4,200 raised
DFest is a one-day music festival which has become an annual event. Dean and Jo host it in their garden and choose a different charity to fundraise for each year. We were nominated this year by Betsy, who has been supported by The Amber Trust for six years.
DFest this year raised £2,000 in aid of Amber through an auction and raffle. This was matched by BP thorough their charity giving scheme and Costco also gave a cheque for £200, bringing the total to £4,200! Read more about the day
Becs Leighton Music – July 13th 2025 – £410 raised
Students of Becs Leighton Music, aged 5 to adult, performed flute and piano repertoire for an audience of family and friends on July 13th in Cullingworth, West Yorkshire. One of our piano students is funded by The Amber Trust and she performed one of her Grade 5 pieces at this event. Our studio runs two charity concerts per year, and the students and their families nominate charities each time. This time we chose The Amber Trust because we know that the Trust has had to limit new applications for funded lessons, and we hope to make a small difference to that. It is lovely to able to give back to a charity that has not only funded one of my students for several years, but also offers so much in the way of support, training and advice to me as a teacher.
Clevedon Concert in aid of Amber – July 2025 – £100 raised
Tamara Herbert was delighted to organise a concert in Clevedon, North Somerset, in aid of the Amber Trust as part of their 30 year celebrations. Her students aged 7 – 19 years all performed to a very enthusiastic audience of parents and friends. The varied programme included Mira by Stephen Montague, some South African township jazz, a beautiful slow piece by Fibich as well as a few well known popular pieces. One of the students is supported by The Amber Trust and she was very excited to play Mamma Mia on the piano and to sing an upbeat song, Make Your Own Kind of Music.
Accademia dell’Opera Italiana & Amber Trust: A Celebration of American Music – 4th July 2025 – £339.67 raised
Opera, jazz, and Broadway come together in a powerful celebration of music without limits.
Age No Concern at the Ilkley Bandstand – 28th June 2025 – £60 raised
The forecasted showers never materialised, the sun shone and lots of people danced.
Approximately 140 people came to listen to the band, who provided a fantastic atmosphere and a great afternoon of music.
DeafBlind Awareness Week – Seeing Through Sound: Chapman Shum’s Musical Journey – 27th June 2025 – £40 raised
Amber Music Award recipient Chapman Shum gave an impressive piano recital in aid of The Amber Trust as part of DeafBlind awareness Week.
Charity Piano Concert in aid of The Amber Trust – 20th June 2025 – £700 raised
Derek Paravicini and Chapman Shum delighted audiences at the Putney Library on the 20th June 2025 in aid of The Amber Trust.
The Amber Trust’s 30th Anniversary Concert – 18th May 2025 – £3,500 raised
A joyful concert featuring some of the talented young musicians supported by The Amber Trust.
Charity Concert at St Columba Church – April 2025 – £200 raised
The parish musicians and singers performed a range of music including Dam Busters, Skyfall and Pachelbel’s Canon. Instruments ranged from the church organ to harmonica! The audience were encouraged to sing-a-long to songs such as I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles and Scarlet Ribbons. It was an enjoyable afternoon that raised money for a local hospital charity and The Amber Trust.
Woody Mann Tribute Concert – 22nd March 2025 – £1,900 raised
The concert recognised the impact Woody Mann had on musicians all over the world.
The concert featured Peter Price, Steve Hicks & Lynn Goulbourn and The Bonas Brothers
